Mme Carole

Mme Carole is our Head of Mathematics and senior academic counsellor for students interested in pursuing Mathematics, Engineering and/or Science within Canada and abroad.

More about Mme Carole

Mme Carole graduated from the University of Western Ontario where she was a Rhodes Scholar Nominee and Dean’s list recipient for 4 consecutive years. She was certified by the Ontario College of Teachers Intermediate/Senior in Mathematics and French in 1989.

Mme Carole has taught Intermediate and Senior grades Mathematics in both French and English. She has taught all Intermediate and Senior grades in both the Ontario and International Baccalaureate Curriculum (IBO). She has developed full secondary school Mathematics curricula and participated in numerous accreditations for both Ontario, the IB and the Council of Independent Schools.

Mme Carole developed and trained multiple teams for International Mathematics contests. Her teams have competed in Barcelona, Basel and Luxembourg.

Mme Carole has a thorough knowledge of the University admissions process throughout North America, UK and most of Western Europe. She has guided hundreds of students on their successful applications to a number of universities across the globe.

Mme Carole believes in lifelong learning and is a role model. She has undergone training in both the IB Diploma Programme and Middle Years Programme. She is currently completing her Masters in Mathematics Education at University of Waterloo through the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing.

Mme Carole is a global traveller, having worked and toured numerous countries. She loves musical theatre, sings in the local choir, and currently lives on a farm. She has raised two brilliant Mathematical Engineers. She has won the sweetest teacher award multiple times at two different schools!

Ferenc Nemeth

Dr. Nemeth is the Director and School Principal of V-teachers. He graduated with a BA in Economics in 1997. He spent 12 years in the investment and banking industry before a career change took him into Education. He received a Masters of Science Degree in Education, summa cum laude, from Niagara University. He received his Doctorate in Education, with distinction, from Nottingham University, UK Centre for Research in Educational Leadership and Management.

More about Dr. Nemeth

Dr. Nemeth holds teacher certification in Ontario, New York State and Vaud, Switzerland for Intermediate/Senior Economics and History. Dr. Nemeth taught IB Economics for 10 years and was an IB examiner. He has taught IGCSE and pre-IB Math, Theory of Knowledge, and AP Business and History. 

He is an avid proponent of special needs education and co-developed the SEN policy for one of the largest not-for-profit private schools in the world. He has spoken at numerous education conferences and ran workshops. He has been a founding head of school, education consultant, and University administrator. He currently teaches Method of Instruction and Assessment as an adjunct professor for new teachers seeking certification in Ontario, Canada. His textbook on method of instruction, A Pragmatic Guide to Instruction for Intermediate Senior Teachers, will be published in 2022.  

Dr. Nemeth is a former army cadet and reserve officer. He is a business owner, farmer, avid skier, huge jazz fan and lifelong student of martial arts.

John Barr

John is a member of our Research Advisory Group. He graduated with an Honours degree in Social Psychology and Mathematics from Sussex University, UK. In 1980, he received his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) UK teaching certification in Mathematics. He has taught Math and ICT for close to 40 years. John earned his Masters in Mathematical Education from University of Bristol in 1995.

John is a former Head of Math. He has had an exciting career teaching in some of the top ranked International and European Schools helping students achieve the highly regarded International Baccalaureate and European Baccalaureate High School diplomas. He has also taught in the state and private UK sectors helping students achieve IGCSE and A levels. As a former head of Math, John not only understands the math content, he knows how curriculums are structured and what students must do to achieve academic success. John has led math teams to International Math contests. He has held pastoral positions in schools. He speaks English, French and some Spanish.

Gerry McGoldrick

Dr. McGoldrick is a professor at Ryerson University in Toronto. He teaches courses on traditional and popular music of the world, religion and music, world vocal styles, and American popular music. He received his PhD in Ethnomusicology from York University in Toronto, and his research focuses on traditional and popular Japanese music.

 

More about Dr. McGoldrick

He has been involved with traditional Japanese music for over twenty-five years, and has played shamisen and shakuhachi in a variety of styles, in solo and group settings in Japan and Canada. His collaborations include work with avant-garde soundscape artists, modern dancers, story tellers, and puppeteers from the National Bunraku Theatre in Osaka, Japan.

Dr. McGoldrick spent 15 years living in Japan studying and teaching. He is fluent in Japanese and is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on the shamisen. Dr. McGoldrick is not only an accomplished scholar and musician, he is well known for his quick wit and sense of humour.

Frau Shmayda

Frau Shmayda is a Director of our not-for-profit organization and is head of our Parents’ Association. She received her undergraduate degree in Engineering Chemistry from Queen’s University in 1995.

 

More About Frau Schmayda

Along with her family, she lived and worked in Kuala Lumpur, Chile, Berlin and Johannesburg. Her four brilliant children attended school both at home and abroad in Ontario, Québec, Germany & South Africa. She has direct experience with both public, private and International schools as a: teacher, parent representative, volunteer, school nurse, receptionist and board member. She is a strong advocate for children and their access to education through her support of humanitarian causes. Frau Shmayda is a great example of a lifelong learner. She speaks three languages: English, German and French and completed a second degree in Psychology at Queen’s University with a specialization in cognitive neuroscience in 2018. Paula brings her enthusiastic spirit, her “can-do” attitude and support to every project. We are very thrilled indeed to have Paula as part of our organization.
